Tacos on a Stick

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup diced onions
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 12 wooden skewers
  • Taco sauce or salsa, for dipping

 Directions:

Prepare the Ground Meat:

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef or turkey until fully browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.

Season the Meat:

  1. Sprinkle the taco seasoning mix over the cooked meat and stir well to combine. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Assemble the Tacos:

  1. Take a wooden skewer and thread on a small portion of the seasoned meat, followed by a pinch of shredded cheddar cheese, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, diced onions, and sliced black olives if using. Repeat this process until each skewer is filled, leaving a small space at the bottom and top of each skewer for easier handling.

Arrange on a Serving Platter:

  1. Place the assembled taco skewers on a serving platter or baking sheet, arranging them in a single layer.

Optional: Broil the Skewers (for extra crispiness):

  1. If desired, you can place the assembled skewers under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese and slightly crisp up the toppings. Keep a close eye on them to prevent burning.

Serve:

  1. Once ready, transfer the Tacos on a Stick to a serving platter. Serve them immediately with taco sauce or salsa on the side for dipping.

Enjoy:

  1. Enjoy these fun and flavorful Tacos on a Stick as a playful appetizer or main dish for your next gathering or family dinner!
