Pizza sloppy joes 

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Optional toppings: sliced pepperoni, sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, chopped fresh basil

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned and cooked through, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks.
  2. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes, until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, until fragrant.
  4. Add the pizza sauce and Italian seasoning to the skillet with the beef and vegetables. Stir to combine.
  5. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the mixture for 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. While the beef mixture is simmering, preheat your oven’s broiler.
  7. Split the hamburger buns and place them, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
  8. Spoon the beef mixture evenly onto each half of the hamburger buns.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of each sloppy joe.
  10. Optional: Add any additional toppings you desire, such as sliced pepperoni, sliced black olives, diced tomatoes, or chopped fresh basil.
  11. Place the baking sheet under the preheated broiler and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  12. Remove the pizza sloppy joes from the oven and serve immediately.
