Joy’s Easy Banana Bread Recipe

 

Ingredients:

  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/3 cup (75g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 1/2 cups (180g) all-purpose flour

Optional add-ins:

  • 1/2 cup (60g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Stir in the melted butter until well combined.
  4. Add the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, and mix until smooth.
  5. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the banana mixture, and stir to combine.
  6. Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. If using, fold in the chopped nuts or chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it out evenly with a spatula.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
