Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet with butter or non-stick cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and whisk until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the cookie dough.
- Press the cookie dough into the prepared cast iron skillet, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.
- Remove from the oven and let the skillet cookie cool slightly before slicing.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.
