Best Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream

 

Ingredients:

– 2 cups heavy cream

– 1 cup whole milk

– 3/4 cup granulated sugar

– 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Pinch of salt

Directions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is dissolved and the cocoa powder is fully incorporated. Do not boil.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  4. Once cooled, cover the saucepan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to chill thoroughly.
  5. Once chilled, pour the chocolate ice cream base into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
  6. Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
  7. Serve the creamy homemade chocolate ice cream scooped into bowls or cones and enjoy!
