Ground Beef and Cabbage

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small head cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)

Directions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Once the beef is cooked, add the thinly sliced cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the beef mixture.
  4. Season the beef and cabbage mixture with paprika, ground cumin, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Stir well to evenly distribute the seasonings.
  5. Cover the skillet and let the mixture cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the cabbage is tender, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
  7. Remove the skillet from the heat and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top for garnish, if desired.
  8. Serve the ground beef and cabbage hot as a main dish, or over cooked rice or noodles.
